I just love this…
You know, I have had an honest question for quite sometime. It’s the question of why in the world is there such a battle over the thought of teaching about biblical creation AND evolution (micro and macro)? I mean, I always thought that the whole point of schooling was to provide a broad education. Some may think certain things are unimportant and that is great. The point is, the education is supposed to allow for critical thinking and then allow the student to move on and make decisions on their own. I was taught about the bible and about biological evolution. I had lots of questions that went unanswered back then that actually have pretty good information available to review now. I’m excited. All those questions like, “Mom, maybe God started over after the dinosaurs, ya think?” or “Maybe a day in Genesis meant something else?”, these questions have some solid answers now that weren’t available to me when I was asking them. Many would say the answers are a joke, or not science etc, but I say, “WHO CARES!” I want to read about it and form my own opinion!! Just like this upcoming movie (see link Ben Stein is EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed) I’m excited because it’s about a subject that many never hear of in detail. We have heard one side, and usually that side says, “They are a bunch of loonies”. Well, I’m here to say that I know all about the one side because I was taught it everywhere I went to school and on TV and in the museums, but as I have investigated the “loony” side I see that there are some REAL possibilities there and it’s VERY interesting! I love learning again! Maybe you’ve thought the same thoughts that I have. I’m just excited we live in a society that is FREE and will let people be “loony” in the eyes of someone else, and THAT’S OKAY! Here’s a fun statement to read, “I evolved into thinking I was intelligently designed to be able to be loony.” LAUGH NOW

Work, work, work
I tell ya, reading the book of John just keeps me on my toes, yep! I would almost say that I thought I knew everything about John, but, alas, I get humbled again.
Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you…The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent. The Holy Bible : NIV
So here we are reading away and I have to think about these verses and apply them to myself. You know God has a hold on you when you have to stop and do a commentary search just to see if maybe you are taking this the wrong way. Obviously, these verses are pretty easily read. I need to work for God not myself. What is the work I should be most entrenched in? Helping people to “believe in the one he has sent”. Seems easy, but it’s a great reminder.
It also made me think a bit differently. If I work for a new TV, the TV will one day quit working. If I work for a movie ticket, the memory of the movie will one day leave me. If I work for an education for my child (which is not a BAD thing), one day the child may not use it, or may go back to school for a different degree. They could even die before completion of that coveted degree. What I’m saying is that there is NOTHING we can work for that is going to last. Hence, the simple and effective verses John leaves us in his Gospel. Bet that made you think.
Love in Christ,
Jeff
