quick thought. THE SHIPWRECK.
Did you know Paul survived a shipwreck in the book of Acts? Reading this today reminded me that we are all sailing the open seas. Is a SHIPWRECK ahead? If we don’t listen to what God has in mind for us, we might just run across a sandbar or some rocks. Just as Paul warned his shipmates and was not listened to, how often have we been warned to “take the high road” but instead chose revenge, or spite, or gossip. Paul said:
”Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. (Acts 27:21 NIV)
This doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t have had ANY trouble, they would have spent a rough winter at the port in Crete. However, this would have been better than dealing with a shipwreck and losing everything. Even after the wreck, they all survived and found a way out!
A beach was found and they were safe. We are also told in the bible that:
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 )
AND
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
od ended up using these events for good in Paul’s life and he showed them a way out from the error of setting sail. God provided safe passage to the beach. So, take heart, even if we mess up and make a bad decision, a way out will be provided. Will we take it?
Blessings,
Jeff
