Wisdom hidden in Wisdom Part II

lockedMoving on to Proverbs 28, I have found more wisdom to impart.  Once again, looking at a few verses, we head on our journey.

 1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues,
       but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Have you ever done something wrong, maybe in secret, and somehow, everywhere you looked you thought someone was watching you, or you felt like someone “knew” you “did it”?  You were fleeing from an imaginary pursuer.

4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
but those who keep the law resist them.

Well, I just liked this one because then I could say that, “Resistance is NOT futile.”  Yep, that’s for all my fellow Star Trek fans (especially if you read the STNG books).  If you don’t know what STNG is, then you are not a Star Trek fan (Google it).

 8 He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest
       amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.

In essence, dishonest gain will, in the end, belong to those who needed it more.  Maybe several generations later, but nonetheless, sometime.

 9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law,
       even his prayers are detestable.

Some don’t get it that these prayers are NOT remotely holy nor something that God would be a party to.  Think of a a courtroom where the accused ignores the law, but wants to talk things out with the judge outside of what the law proclaims.  Uh, no.

 13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper,
       but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

One of the best verses…and that mercy that is found is so freeing.

 28 When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding;
       but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.

Easy to relate to what occurs surrounding Jesus’ 2nd coming.  Evil rises. Many of God’s chosen people are further persecuted.  Evil is banished. God’s chosen ones are granted a new heaven and a new earth.
